Cebubers

A few months ago, my friend and colleague told me that she planned to visit me in Cebu. I told her to invite our other friends; unfortunately for some, they already had prior commitments so only three of them pushed through. Initially, the Philippine government, headed by the former president announced that July 8th will be a non-working holiday because of Eid al-Fitr, an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan. But it was then moved to July 6th. They were worried because they already bought the plane tickets. Good thing they were able to make some arrangements with their managers so they were able to fly last July 8th. She still had to work in our Cebu office while the others were able to file it as their vacation leave.

Since we had to work on that day, we tried to finish all our deliverables so we could leave on time and still make the most out of their first night.  We first went to Pizzeria Michaelangelo for dinner. We ordered two pizzas and two pastas. Then we went to La Vie Parisienne for some wine.

The following day, they have decided to go to Mövenpick Resort in Mactan Island. We initially planned to go to another resort for a day tour but we just ditched that and stayed in Mövenpick since they offer happy hour on their alcoholic drinks from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. At around 7-ish, we had decided to leave and eat at AA's Barbecue nearby. We went back to Cebu City with a full stomach, then went back to La Vie for another bottle of wine. Well, I don't really enjoy drinking wine. They just got me a bottle of Shanpelino Raspberry instead.

On their last day, we went to Temple of Leah in Busay. It was almost on top of the mountain and our Uber driver had to go down after dropping us off because he couldn't end the trip due to poor data connection of Smart Communications.

We rushed to the Sto. Niño Basilica with the same Uber driver to attend the mass. Unfortunately, the mass is in Cebuano so I didn't really understand the homily of the priest.

I hope they could come back with our other friends soon.
